Abortion Abortion-USA

While I am against the wanton destruction of human life, and as such vehemently oppose the death penalty, I find that the subject of abortion brings about an issue that is so multi-faceted that I doubt we (as humans, christians, or the entirety of the world) will ever reach a concensus on whether or not we should allow it. While, after quite some thought, I cannot in good conscience condone murder, I find that I cannot always sympathize with those who push for life. What if a child will have a birth defect or gentic mutation to the degree that it serves as a serious hindrance to quality of life? Is it fair to condemn this child to a life of misery? What about the child of a rape or incest victim? Is it fair to bring a child into this world who loathed by his own mother? Historically all attempts of figures of authority, whether granted by the voice of the people or endorsed by some assumed divine providence, to answer any of the preceding questions was met with an inordinate amount of contraversy. And if we, as a society, shun abortion, what are we supposed to do about other forms of contraceptives? Because it could be argued, like abortion, that the prevention of conception is denying an individual the inherent right to exist. But what do we do with all the cases where the potential mother is incapable of supporting her child; what if, for example, it is a sixteen year old girl? Do we sacrifice her quality of life and her happiness for the purpose of a child she is not on any level ready to support? These questions are absurd, of course we allow her to use a contraceptive, it would be damning her not to. And say she finds out that she is pregnant, do we allow her to sacrifice her unborn child for herself? I do not know the answer to that question. Does the unborn child have a soul, if such a thing exists? How can we know? I guess that what I am trying to say is this: I feel that abortion is a necessary evil of modern society.
