Once Saved Always Saved?

If you are here reading this then more then likely you have back slidden!
You are here asking yourself the same questions I was asking last year.
I spent a lot of time looking into it and wished I would have saved all the stuff I learned about it.
But the simple truth in the end is this:

"I don't know! If I was saved before then please forgive me!
If I thought I was saved and wasn't then please forgive me",
it's that simple!
Put it at the foot of the cross
Pick up your own cross and follow him!
Don't let nobody brainwash you with theology otherwise!
It's not us, remember, it's Jesus, that way there is no boasting by us!

If any person comes to Jesus Christ,
and don't love Jesus Christ over,
their father,or their mother, or their spouse,
or their children, or their brothers, or their sisters,
or even their own life,
they are not able to be a follower of Jesus Christ!

Accept no Theology that the Bible does not back up

There are just as many websites on this topic as there are sand on the beach. We will try to explain the truth!

The Old Testament taught the Laws.
Romans 2:12  For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;
James 2:10  For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
Matthew 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Jesus takes it a step futher by teaching that the very thoughts we have condemn us
Matthew 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Remember Forgiveness is freely given
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

No matter what preachers might tell you with the line,
"once saved always saved",
he doesn't offer you a free,
"sin all you want, free, get into heaven ticket"!
Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Hebrews 6:4-6 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, and have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
Matthew 19:26....With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Remember Again Forgiveness is freely given
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

This story applies and was written to you
Luke 15:11-32
A certain man had two sons and the younger of them said to his father, " Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me". And he divided unto them his living.

Not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with wasteful living. When he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.

He went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. He would have willingly filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him. When he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!  I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.  And he arose, and came to his father.

But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. And the son said unto him,  "Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son". But the father said to his servants, "Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found".

And they began to be merry.  Now his older son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard music and dancing.  And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.   And he said unto him, "Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound".  And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him.  And he answering said to his father," Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:  But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf".   And he said unto him, "Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.  It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found".

Your father will also accept you back with the same love!
It's not us, remember, it's Jesus, that way there is no boasting!

Titus 3:5  Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Remember it's a gift!

You don't have to work for it, no good deeds will get you in,
The devil will try to trick you because you have committed this sin or that one.
Please don't let him fool you with this trickery!
Because that is why this subject exist for.
Nobody is perfect and we all fall  sometimes.

Remember!!!!!!!!!!!                   Forgiveness is freely given
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

As it is written,
For whosoever shall call
upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
We would not want to call him a liar would we?

hello marty, I love your website. the phrase once saved always saved is something that always bothered me, how does a person say they are saved and live in the world continuing to sin. my own opinion on this subject is that when a person gets gloriously saved he becomes a new creature in christ and all those old worldly habits are a thing of the past. the desire for whatever kept you far from god is gone. no more ever. people seem to think that when they made that confession of faith that they got saved and that, i think is whats going to keep them from seeing the true way of god. preachers today worry too much about what people are going to think to tell the truth and stand for what is true. how many preachers do you think are going to burn because they compromised not to hurt someones feelings or to make sure they got that almighty pay check. what happened to being led by god and letting him have his way in his house instead of the program that was prearranged. you know the holy spirit can move whenever it wants to but when the church fights it sooner or later it just gets up and walks out. I want to do what god would have me to do all the time not just on sunday morning or sunday night or even wednesday night but sometimes he knows best and it may not seem like what you thought the results would be but in the long run wonderful things can happen if people would just take the time stop and listen to that small voice that will speak if you just wait on him. now im not saying that when a person gets saved that they dont commit sin because we all do none of us are perfect and never will be but you strive to be knowing that god will give you the strenght that you need to overcome the old baggage that was washed away when he touched your heart not when you decided that it was time to well make a change. your friend in christ, sharon

You have a GREAT WEB Site. My first time - I will be bask. off the cuff respnse to everlasting life promised in scripture. Salvation is being born into a family. No matter what you do against your faimly - you still are a fmily member. Sin results in loss of sweet fellowship with family members. If sin resulted in the loss of your Salvation and membership in the family of God - then who are those God chastens? Jesus told Peter he only needed to wash his feet (daily confession of sins) to maintain fellowship with Him.

It's really just the opposite from what you say. The devil is not going to try and trick you that you have committed this or that sin and are not "OSAS." He will try and trick you in thinking you are "OSAS" so that you lose your salvation and wind up in hell with him.

2 Peter 2:20,21 - For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are AGAIN ENTANGLED in them and OVERCOME, the latter end is WORSE for them than the beginning. For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. ~ Note: To be again entangled in the pollutions of the world means to be again involved in the foulness of the ungodly mass of mankind. The word "overcome" also means "to be conquered by one, forced to yield to one." Here it means to be conquered by and forced to yield to sin. Then that makes the person a slave of sin again, as the previous verse, 2:19, implies. The word "known" in "known the way of righteousness" also means "know well, to become thoroughly acquainted with." This is definitely about a former true Christian who was set free from sin and then became a slave of sin again. The latter end is one's last state. So these people will have a worse punishment in hell than if they never got saved to begin with.

2 Peter 3:17,18 - You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, BEWARE LEST YOU ALSO FALL from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked; but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen. ~ Note: This clearly proves that "OSAS" IS WRONG. To "fall from" also means "to LOSE it, to perish, to fall powerless, be without effect of the divine promise of salvation."

I don't have any idea what you are trying to say. Are you saying that we are not always saved? Or are you saying we are, but that does not give us a free liscense to sin? I was wondering if you could clarify it for me.

Once Saved always Saved Clarified by Jesus Christ Himself!

As it is written
And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying,
Behold, a sower went forth to sow;
And when he sowed,
some seeds fell by the way side,
and the fowls came and devoured them up:
Some fell upon stony places,
where they had not much earth:
and forthwith they sprung up,
when the sun was up,
they were scorched;
because they had no root,
they withered away.
And some fell among thorns;
and the thorns sprung up,
and choked them:
But other fell into good ground,
and brought forth fruit,
some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower!

When any one heareth the word of the kingdom,
and understandeth it not,
then cometh the wicked one,
and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart.
This is he which received seed by the way side.

But he that received the seed into stony places,
the same is he that heareth the word,
and anon with joy receiveth it;
Yet hath he not root in himself,
but dureth for a while:
for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word,
by and by he is offended.

He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word;
and the care of this world,
and the deceitfulness of riches,
choke the word,
and he becometh unfruitful.

But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word,
and understandeth it;
which also beareth fruit,
and bringeth forth,
some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

From Matthew 13:3-9,18-23
Have you ever planted a garden?
Some seeds never grow.
Some grows then withers away.
Some grow several inches then start to die.
Some dying plants catch ahold of good ground or water and sprout back to life.
Some dying plants are tended to by the gardener and sprout back to life.

As it is written
I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy,
and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

I have read Dr.Charles Stanley's book Eternal Security although I already belived in it. I have also heard him preach on the same thing and he said it didn't give you the right to go out and do anything you wanted to. I believe in this with all my heart. Even tho I am still in the flesh I sin and I think that all saved people do so to. God let me know when I sin and as soon as he does I agree with Him that it is a sin and I confess and ask for His forgiveness and I know that I am forgiven for I am His child and the blood of our Lord jesus Christ has bought me. It grives me when I sin but Christ is making intersesson to God for me. How richly blessed we are.

Yours in Christ. Jimmy Padgett A child of the King

To finish this page up I wanted to state that the bible supports both views. Why is this? It's because it's about people, people are different. People who has been taught "once saved always saved" and start reading their bible will usually end up between a rock & a hard place because it supports the other view also. This is good and they should be rejoicing because something has been revealed to them that isn't to a lot of other people. Why has this been revealed to them is something they have to work out on their own.

Does this mean that the "once saved always saved" is wrong, Nope.

Does this mean that the "once saved always saved" is correct, Nope.

It has more to do with what your calling is!

If your calling is to get people who think they are saved but are not to accept the gospel.

Or if your calling is getting the gospel message to hundreds of new converts.

I'm sure there's more arguments to this but do remember

As it is written,
For whosoever shall call
upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
We would not want to call him a liar would we?

Food for thought?

When Jesus comes back he will first resurrect the dead in Christ, then we which are alive.
Who are all these people???????????????

Next question is who are the servants?
What does a servant mean?
A Servant = A Slave, so who is the Master?
Is not a slave/servant us Christians?
Is not the Master Christ?
To be a servant do we not have to become a believer first?
Unbelievers cannot be called servants?

Why I'm saying this is that when I read about the good & bad servants, the guest who didn't have on a wedding garment, the cleaning of his kingdom in matt 13:41, the unprofitable servant that is cast into outer darkness, the Sheep & the Goats, the servants who are beaten or appointed a place with the unbelievers. in Luke 12, I have to ask who are these people?

Did not the Jews read or was read to about what it said in the Old Testament?
Did not they believe that because they was Jews and followed the Law that they was saved always.
All the judgements they read which was clearly written for them in the Old Testament,
they read it as though it was meant for somebody else, or the people who lives on the bad part of the town.

What about the judgements written in the New Testament?
Are not they meant for us, to warn us?
Are not some Christians in this day and time guilty of the same thing as the Jews was?
What about the ex-believers today who call themselves atheists and promote their hatred for God everywhere?
What about the guy who was a believer, drove a church bus, became a preacher, then quit and is now an atheist?
Are not these part of the Wheat & Tares which shall be harvested at the same time?
Are not the Tares the bad servants?
Are not the Tares the guest who didn't have on a wedding garment?
Are not the Tares the cleaning of his kingdom in matt 13:41?
Are not the Tares the unprofitable servant that is cast into outer darkness?
Are not the Tares the Goats?
Are not the Tares the servants who are beaten or appointed a place with the unbelievers. in Luke 12?
For many are called, but few are chosen

Who is the guest that was in the rapture or resurrection?
Matt 22:11.  And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:
Matt 22:12.  And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.
Matt 22:13.  Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matt 22:14.  For many are called, but few are chosen.

How did they get into the his kingdom?
Matt 13:41.  The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;
Matt 13:42.  And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Does this not talk about the rapture   "the Son of man cometh"?
Who is the evil servant?

Matt 24:44.  Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
Matt 24:45.  Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
Matt 24:46.  Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
Matt 24:47.  Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
Matt 24:48.  But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
Matt 24:49.  And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;
Matt 24:50.  The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,
Matt 24:51.  And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Is this not talking about the rapture "the Son of man cometh"?
Who is the unprofitable servant that is cast into outer darkness?

Matt 25:13.  Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
Matt 25:14.  For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
Matt 25:15.  And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.
Matt 25:16.  Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.
Matt 25:17.  And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.
Matt 25:18.  But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.
Matt 25:19.  After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
Matt 25:20.  And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
Matt 25:21.  His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Matt 25:22.  He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
Matt 25:23.  His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Matt 25:24.  Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
Matt 25:25.  And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
Matt 25:26.  His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
Matt 25:27.  Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
Matt 25:28.  Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
Matt 25:29.  For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
Matt 25:30.  And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Is this not talking about the rapture "the Son of man shall come"?
Who are the Goats?

Matt 25:31.  When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
Matt 25:32.  And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
Matt 25:33.  And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
Matt 25:34.  Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
Matt 25:35.  For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
Matt 25:36.  Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
Matt 25:37.  Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
Matt 25:38.  When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
Matt 25:39.  Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
Matt 25:40.  And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
Matt 25:41.  Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
Matt 25:42.  For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
Matt 25:43.  I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
Matt 25:44.  Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
Matt 25:45.  Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
Matt 25:46.  And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

This talks about the rapture first then breaks some of the servants down:
1st group:servant to appoint him a place with the unbelievers then first the servant has to be a believer?
2nd group:Who are the servants that are beaten with many stripes?
3rd group: But the servants who knew little shall be beaten with few stripes?

Luke12:46.  The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.
Luke12:47.  And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
Luke12:48.  But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
