A while back, I felt very convicted about the television being in our home. Alot of it, I know, is the fact that the "talking heads" are constantly spewing out lies and propaganda. The biggest factor, however, is how anti-christian the shows on TV really are. When you really pay attention, it is unbelievable how much christian bashing goes on. Thus, while it is still sitting on it's shelf, it is nothing but a dust collector since it NEVER gets turned on anymore. Nothing on it is edifying to God nor to Christianity. By watching it, I feel as if I am condoning the blasphemy of our LORD! I want no part of that. I've decided that spending time with God on the internet (bible study, christian fellowship, christian research, etc) is much more satisfying and is truly food for the soul. Of course, the internet has its dark side, as well. But, at least we have a choice of where and what to "surf" to. Biblical research is awesome and just the study of the Word and of our Jesus is wonderful. I also love Calvary Chapel's radio channel, so I switch between the two. TV is an UN-necessary evil that seeks to denigrate all that we hold dear and take up valuable time that could be used for something much more worthwhile. Family Bible study, internet Bible study, good sound teaching on the radio/internet: much better.
