Psalms 121:1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
This verse should be read and understood as
"Shall I lift up mine eyes unto the hills ...?"
instead of "I will lift up...".
"No, I will not. I will not lift up my eyes to the hills for my help.
It is because my help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth...."
This is what the Psalmist wants to say.
Around the city of Jerusalem surrounds the hillsides, from where the
Israelites might see the soldiers of other country coming to save them. So the Psalmist is tempted to look around the hillsides for the foreign soldiers coming up every time when he is in need instead of looking for the help from the Lord.
I have been blessed with this text with this meaning just as explained above. The Hebrew word for this verse indicates QUERY...I mean, by "whence".
Please forgive me for my poor English.
