Post subject: Question about Isaiah 9:3
User Location:
I was looking through the search engine for some insight on Isaiah chapter 9 verse 3. It seems as though the King James Version, and 21st Century King James version read "and not increased the joy" while other translations included New King James read "and increased the joy". I am wondering if there would be some insight on this version "contradiction".

Twenty Hebrew manuscripts together with the Hebrew marginal reading, the Syriac read "to it" instead of "not" The prophet pictures a brighter and happier day wehn Messiah has come to His people bringing them peace and joy. Their happiness is multiplied. All modern versions omit the word "not" Not a great problem but some translator erred.
