parable of talents tentalents.txtthread
Many people take this at face value and interpret it to mean that God gives everyone literal talents, e.g., music, art, administration, etc., and that they should be applied to Godly pursuits. In my opinion, this is an entirely too literal reading of the text.
Moreover, the talent was a form of currency. So if there should be a literal interpretation of this text, it should more correctly be that we should re-invest the money God gives us in Christian enterprises.
But we all know that parables are \"earthly stories with heavenly meanings.\" My understanding of this is that what we are to continually re-invest is what God gives to every believer, the whole of our spiritual life.
