The Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada defines a later-term abortion as one that takes place after 20 weeks of pregnancy. In 2020, of 14,815 induced abortions reported by hospitals outside Quebec that provided information on gestational age, 4.4 per cent (652) were performed after 21 weeks' gestation, according to CIHI.
