Baptism luke12
Jesus here uses the term "baptism" figuratively and refers to the sufferings He was destined to experience in order to fulfill the Scripture as described in Matthew 26:54 which states: "How then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen thus?" Such is supported by Hartman (Encyclopedic Dictionary of the Bible) on Luke 12:50, commenting that "it is used in the figurative sense of 'being overwhelmed' with deadly tortures (martyrdom of Christ and His apostles)."
