Holy Spirit
Questions & Answers

Question: I have a question and would appreciate your answers. As we read through the Gospels we are told that the desciples were filled with the Holy spirit and that was before Jesus was crucified. Then after he was crucified he told them that they would receive the holy spirit in 50 or 40 days I forgot. Could you please tell me the difference between the two events?

Answers 1:

If you remember the disciples "before Jesus was crucified" healed people. They couldn't do this of their own accord. What was given to them was temporary because they all still had sin and the Holy Spirit had to leave from them because of it. God cannot be in the presence of Sin.

At Pentecost they received it Full Force. I think Pentecost is one of the things most Christian Movies leaves out. The Passion and the rest always ends after the 3 days and Jesus being raised but Pentecost was the completion of the entire story.

Nobody is saved until they receive the Holy Spirit. That is what separates the Goats from the Sheep that Jesus spoke about. The Sheep has the Holy Spirit and that Righteousness is what God sees in one who is saved.

My Righteousness and yours, and everybody elses would send us to Hell!
We all deserve nothing better.

But what God sees when looking at one who is saved is only the Righteousness of His Spirit(Son) in us, that Spirit is what Jesus was created as sorta Son(Human Understanding) to receive and to pass onto us by taking My sin onto His son. It's not the entire World's Sin but just Mine, each one by ourselves.

When I accepted His pain and death in replace of what I deserve, it was God who sent His Spirit to be inside of me. It's called being humble and looking at yourself in the mirror(God's Purity) and accepting the truth of what I am. I am a sinner who deserves to Burn in Hell forever! Nothing I can ever ever do will cover that cost.

Only God can cover my Sin and he has to do that BEFORE I die not afterwards..

Luke 3:16
John answered them all, "I baptize you with water. But one more powerful than I will come, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire."

Holy Spirit and Fire are states seperately, interesting.
First I would like to point out that the Holy Spirit dwelleth with people before Jesus came.

Numbers 11:25
Then the LORD came down in the cloud and spoke with him, and he took of the Spirit that was on him and put the Spirit on the seventy elders. When the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied, but they did not do so again.

Numbers 11:29
But Moses replied, "Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all the LORD's people were prophets and that the LORD would put his Spirit on them!"

Judges 14:6
The Spirit of the LORD came upon him in power so that he tore the lion apart with his bare hands as he might have torn a young goat. But he told neither his father nor his mother what he had done.

Now Jesus did breath the Holy Spirit on the Apostles, giving them strength to understand and believe, also enabling them to semi-forgive sins. Now the Prophets also had the Spirit dwelleth with them.

Acts 2:1-4
The Holy Spirit Comes at Pentecost

1When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

At Pentecost the Apostles are baptized with the Fire of the Holy Spirit, and after this occured they receive the full pwer and gift of the Holy Spirit. Even though the Spirit was in them at times as with the Prophets, they were baptized with the Fire of the Spirit thus they recieved the Spirit as Jesus promised and the Spirit remained with them.

Note the similarity between Penecost and the event in Numbers 11:25. Similar event like Pentecost, but it was temporary.

Isaiah 40:13
Who has understood the spirit of the LORD , or instructed him as his counselor?

The Holy Spirit wasn't fully understood by the Jews, but Jesus knew Him, as the Spirit of God also proceeded from the Father.

Question: I started looking for verses concerning the Holy Spirit and I found this:

John 20:
22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the holy Spirit.
23 Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained."

This event happened before the Pentecost.

Quote:
It says that they already received the Holy Spirit there.
Please explain this also:
What was given to them was temporary because they all still had sin and the Holy Spirit had to leave from them because of it. God cannot be in the presence of Sin.

How did you conclude this?

Answers 1:

(dwelleth with you)
Matthew 10
1. And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

Future tense about Pentecost and after(shall be in you).
Matthew 10
19. But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.
20. For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

Future tense about Pentecost(shall be in you)
John 7
39. But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was NOT yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.

Future tense about Pentecost(shall be in you) and present tense(dwelleth with you).
John 14
16. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17. Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

whom the world cannot receive,
because it seeth Him not,
neither knoweth Him:

but ye know Him;
for He dwelleth with you,
and shall be in you.

for He(Spirit) dwelleth with you,
and shall be IN you.

Big difference in the 2.

Acts 2
1. And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Quote:
John 20:
22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the holy Spirit.
23 Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained."

It is written: And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee. Matthew 9:2

Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only? Mark 2:7

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38

Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained. John 20:23

The disciples did not have the power to forgive sins as Jesus Himself had, it states,"whose soever sins ye remit, not forgive!

The disciples were commanded by Jesus to remit sins, That is to say having the authority to baptize FOR the remissions of sins, and not direct forgiveness of sins in which only God Himself can do, so you see the difference between the authority of Jesus having the power to forgive sins and the disciples instruction by the Lord to baptize FOR the remmission of sins.

It is written:Matthew 9:6 - But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.

Power on earth to forgive sins:{ON EARTH}Meaning as in the flesh, God manifesting himself in the flesh having the authority to forgive sins. Only with the approval of God can ones sins be forgiven, and as Jesus being the Word of God{Speaking for God with an audible voice}has power ON EARTH to forgive sins.

John 20:23

The word is forgive not remit. Why can't you protestants understand that this authority was given by Christ to help people? Even as I look in this protestant bible I read "forgive". Read it and then explain tome why you can't admit it and stop substituting things like "remit" which isn't the word used.

When the Apostles had a share in the Ministry before JESUS Passion, they had been given the SPIRIT to do so, but had not yet been baptised with the SPIRIT. To merely speak of having a filling with the SPIRIT while in a State of Grace for a duration is not nescessarily equal to speaking of being immersed into that SAME SPIRIT, with the result that HE now is your sole REALM of Existence, as the sea serves for the all-encompassing habitation for fish. It is true that as one drifts from the HOLY SPIRIT, that SPIRIT must withdraw from such a one - though HE yet fishes for the soul of the one covenanted to HIM, if that one has backslidden.
Not until the First Feast of Pentacost under the New and Everlasting Covenant of our LORD JESUS CHRIST were the Apostles baptised into the HOLY SPIRIT. Nonetheless, between the Resurrection of our LORD and SAVIOR, and the Fulfillment of the Promise of the Baptism with the HOLY SPIRIT, there was a separate giving of the SPIRIT that was was general, and concerning personal Sanctity, but for a select few alone, and having everything to do with the Office of those installed into the Hierarchy, to whom GOD INCARNATE said, "The one recieving you ME recieves, and the one ME recieving recieves the ONE having sent ME." In other words, what the SON was sent by the FATHER to establish in HIS Infinite Humility, in the Form of a Human Servant, is intended to be carried out to some degree not without the Apostolate. To the Apostles was given with the SPIRIT, between Resurrection and Baptism in the SPIRIT, as explanation for that Bestowal, simply the words: "Recieve ye the HOLY SPIRIT: of whomever ye forgive the sins, they have been forgiven to them; of whomever ye hold, they have been held." The Apostle John, writing these things in his elder years, after many of the other original Apostles had gone to GOD, notes that all of these things were selected for mention specifically to edify the Recipients of his Book. If with his then very emminent exodus from the body there would no longer be need of the bestowal of the SPIRIT given for Reconciliation to GOD, why did he include this as specifically most important for his readership and their audience - since other things of equal worth he left out in vast amounts?

I would like to know if it is a Sin for an un-married man and woman to engage in sexual intercourse? If so, where in the Bible does it state this? Thank you in advance.

I recently heard a story while attending a small meeting at a local church. The group leader mentioned that Benny Hinn had once interviewed a woman who claimed the Holy Spirit left her body. She said she had gone to a bar to drink, even after the Holy Spirit had convicted her. She said when she sat down at the bar, she physically felt Him leave her body. The story terrified me. I know the Holy Spirit would come and go in the Old Testament, but do you think the Holy Spirit would leave a back-sliden christian today? Do you think the "enemy" could imitate that physical experience to cause the person to doubt their eternal security. Will God or His Spirit ever give up on one of his children? Has anyone heard this story or anything similar?

Hi, the first time I experienced the Holy Spirit was by myself in the back of a car praying for guidance, and this energy, gentle but powerful came on me and started filling me, it felt like hot oil. Slow and gentle very polite. It was getting so strong that I thought I was going to be pulled out of my body and taken away, and I asked for it to stop and it did. I guess I was not ready for it? Then the next day my mom and I had the exact same dream one night that proved my path to the future. My life was transformed after that and my whole life had changed towards God.

Then after years of trying to find the experience again, I was told by a friend that a man of God was having God show up at his house and I went. The first time I went to see him, i asked him to pray for me and this presence came to me and started to move on me and that was scary, it felt weird adn strange and I asked what was that? It like just touched me for a moment and I felt very uncomfortable.

He said he did not know what it was. It was not like the first time.
Then I watch him pray for other people and things were happening. Something was moving on people. He prayed for this one guy and this guy broke out in tears for no reason, I aksed the guy after what happened after and he said he did
not know (shouldn't he have said I felt Jesus or love?). All he said was he broke out in tears for no reason at all.

Another night I was there and he was praying for a whole group of us and I felt a heavy weight on my head and then he said God was putting a crown on my head after I felt it before he knew it, then I felt a hand on my shoulder and he told me God was touching
my back, same thing. Like he knew after it had happened. Then another night, I had a bad headache there at that house and asked for prayer got this sudden overtaken rush of the spirit so fast I did not know what had happened, not like the first time, suddenly I was in tears for no reason and they told me about my bad relationship with my dad.

Some truthful insights... but i left with no real feeling of love or anything just that experience. Maybe I think that there is suppose to be some feeling of love or personality with the presence of the spirit?

Then one day he said he saw an alarm over my house, and the next day an alarm went off and when my wife came home she asked for a divorce and my marriage ended. Wow ...

I guess I am confused, because I did not feel love, or the testimony of Jesus Christ the second and third time at the guys house. I started qustioning it and he told me that I was on the verge of blaspheming the holy spirit, but I told him that I did not feel any love with all this
stuff, power and feelings. Sure there were gifts there and power no doubt. But there seemed to lack some thing, he was very cold, not a loving touchy type person, he did not hug or give me the warm
fuzzies, he said he was a prophet of God, like to OT ones.

He was a scarry guy, there was power in that room. I have been confused ever since those nights. I always thought that the presence of the Holy Spirit was love and testified of Jesus Christ? Many church people i knew told me it was the devil imagine what an odd place to be in?

I have been to some churches wher the power of God would move on me and it felt different, not like at that guys house. More of a wow factor and inside emotion of awe. I feel pretty dead right now, since
the last church I went to I WAS KICKED OUT BECAUSE THEY SAID THEY DID NOT WANT DIVORCED GUYS OR PEOPLE LIKE ME MEETING ANY OF THIER WOMEN THERE. ODD, THE HOLY SPIRIT TOLD ME BEFORE I GOT OUT OF THE CAR THAT DAY THEY WERE GOING TO ASK ME TO LEAVE THE CHURCH TOO. THE KEY WORD HERE WAS THEY. So, I am in a very dry spot right now.

PS, I know what you meat by the virtue, its was what happened to me the fiorst time, I knew that if I had touched anyone, they would have been healed. There is nothing like it and I want it back and would
give my life to get. To be able to pray for someone and let this virtue flow into them and be witness to Christ is the only thing I would ever want to do.

Michael
